2022 Updates: Understanding the Changing Treatment Landscape of Chronic Rhinosinusitis – Patient Simulations

CME: 1.5

Program Overview

This AliveSim(TM) activity will immerse participants in a series of realistic clinical situations to provide different clinical perspectives that improve translation into real-world practice (application of cognitive flexibility theory). Each challenging scenario embeds decision patterns used by expert faculty, and nuanced clinical coaching to create a personalized, immersive, virtual practice experience for every participant.

Each clinical scenario will involve decision-making and interactions with two virtual clinicians to gain their perspectives and feedback. One virtual clinician is a peer with whom the learner is collaborating, while the other is an expert in managing CRSwNP. Scenarios will also include brief virtual patient interactions and provide examples of best practices in patient-centered care to improve patient adherence, satisfaction, and outcomes.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Identify how type 2 inflammation contributes to the pathology of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP)
  • Describe the role of immunomodulation for treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps
  • Assess the role of medications and surgery for the treatments of CRSwNP
  • Individualize CRSwNP treatment based on patient needs and preferences
