PrEP for HIV Prevention: Expanding Access in Rural and Underserved Communities
Rural and underserved regions of the United States, particularly in the Southeast, continue to experience a disproportionate burden of HIV. Although pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a proven and highly effective prevention strategy, it remains underutilized in these communities. Clinicians serving these areas must be well-prepared to integrate PrEP into care and to navigate sensitive conversations about sexual health and history. This two-part CME/CE series will review the latest updates on PrEP, including new and existing formulations, emerging clinical evidence, and strategies for overcoming recent care challenges. Through case-based scenarios, expert faculty will demonstrate how to identify appropriate candidates and tailor regimens to expand the reach and impact of PrEP across diverse patient populations.
