Optimizing HIV Care Conversations in Rural and Underserved Communities: A Whole-Person Approach to Treatment

Clinicians serving rural and underserved communities play a vital role in ensuring that individuals with HIV are retained in ongoing care. However, stigma and perceived discrimination from healthcare providers can delay or limit access to treatment and contribute to mental health challenges. Empathetic, effective communication is therefore critical to breaking down these barriers. This three-part CME/CE series features clinical case simulations that model best practices for inclusive, patient-centered conversations with people living with HIV. The videos explore strategies to build trust and foster engagement when delivering test results, making shared decisions about HIV treatment, and addressing barriers to adherence.

Bonus Resource: Practice Care Conversations With an AI-Generated Patient
After completing these activities, select participants will have the exciting opportunity to reinforce what they learned and further strengthen their HIV care communication skills by interacting with an AI-generated synthetic patient (access details and instructions to be provided via email).
