Program Overview
Studies have shown that patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD) are at an increased risk for developing several types of comorbidities, including atopic diseases associated with type 2 (T2) inflammation, autoimmune diseases, and psychiatric conditions such as anxiety and depression. In this on-demand educational session, a panel of three expert dermatologists will discuss the risks of AD patients developing comorbid conditions as a result of their disease, the tools available to screen and monitor patients for these conditions, and how to incorporate this knowledge into developing informed, comprehensive treatment and referral plans to determine the best outcomes for AD patients.
Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Explain the underlying T2 pathophysiology of the atopic march that place people with moderate-to-severe AD at high risk of developing other atopic diseases
- Review comorbid autoimmune conditions for which moderate-to-severe AD patients are at risk and their impacts on AD management
- Summarize the psychosocial impact of moderate-to-severe AD on patients’ mental health and quality of life
- Describe informed, multidisciplinary care strategies to improve overall treatment and quality of life for patients with moderate-to-severe AD
