Program Overview

Stuck on EoE marks the latest installment in the innovative reelCE™ series—a micro-video, social-first CME/CE initiative designed to educate busy healthcare professionals through fast, high-impact content. This activity targets gastroenterologists, emergency medicine physicians, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician associates with specialty-specific tracks focused on the timely recognition and personalized management of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE).

This reelCE™ series dives into advanced EoE management for GI specialists, covering insights in EoE pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, newly approved and late-stage therapies, and the role of T2 inflammation. Through concise, high-yield videos, GI clinicians will explore updated ACG guidelines and learn to integrate novel therapies into personalized, multidisciplinary care plans for improved long-term outcomes.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Describe the pathogenesis of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), including the role of Type 2 inflammation
  • Diagnose EoE using evidence-based guidelines
  • Assess the mechanism of action, efficacy, and safety of both recently approved agents for the treatment of EoE and those in late-stage development
  • Develop personalized multidisciplinary care strategies for patients with EoE using current and updated guidelines

Supriya Rao, MD DABOM DABLM is a quadruple board-certified physician in internal medicine, gastroenterology, obesity medicine and lifestyle medicine who focuses on digestive disorders, gut health, the microbiome, and metabolic health. She is a managing partner and heads the Metabolic and Lifestyle Medicine Clinic at Integrated Gastroenterology Consultants in the Greater Boston area. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. She is passionate about empowering people to improve their health through sustainable changes in their lifestyle and runs an intensive lifestyle medicine curriculum through her office. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Rao is a content creator and spends time educating on social media. Dr. Wendi LeBrett is a double board-certified gastroenterologist and internal medicine physician. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University and graduated from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology subspecialty fellowship at UCLA. Her research has been published in several leading gastroenterology journals including Gastroenterology, The American Journal of Gastroenterology, Clinical Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and The Lancet Gastroenterology.

Dr. LeBrett is passionate about educating the public about digestive health and fighting medical misinformation on social media. She has over 250K followers on TikTok and Instagram and creates educational content as @socalgastrodoc. Dr. James Tabibian, MD, PhD, FACP, FASGE, FACG, AGAF is a Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist at Adventist Health Glendale. He is the Medical Director of the Advanced Gastroenterology Center and a Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine in the Western University of Health Sciences. Prior to joining Adventist Health in 2023, he was a Health Sciences Clinical Professor in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Director of Endoscopy at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. 

Dr. Tabibian attended UC Davis as an undergraduate majoring in International Relations and received his MD degree from UCLA with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He completed Residency training in the Osler Medical Housestaff Training Program at Johns Hopkins and went on to become the first ABIM Research Pathway fellow in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic Rochester. While at Mayo Clinic, he was also recruited to be an NIH T32-funded fellow and completed a PhD through Mayo Graduate School, Center for Clinical and Translational Studies. Following his training at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Tabibian joined the University of Pennsylvania as an Instructor of Medicine and Advanced Endoscopy Fellow. At the terminus of his year there, Dr. Tabibian moved back to California to join the faculty at UC Davis Medical Center as an Assistant Professor and Director of Fellow Research. 

Family needs brought Dr. Tabibian back to Southern California in 2017, where he’s practiced ever since. Dr. Tabibian is experienced in endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and luminal stenting, among other advanced procedures. He has over 200 peer-reviewed articles indexed in PubMed and is the author of the book “Digestive Problems Solved: A Patient’s Guide to Expert Insights and Solutions” as well as the invited author of numerous book chapters. He serves as a biomedical consultant nationally and internationally, on the Editorial Board of several journals, and an expert medical reviewer in Gastroenterology for the Medical Board of California.
