Learn to recognize its distinct features and understand the underlying pathophysiology. Explore treatment strategies that address both PAH and the coexisting substance use disorders.

Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  • Describe the epidemiology and clinical characteristics of methamphetamine-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension (MA-PAH)
  • Explain the current understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms linking methamphetamine use to PAH development
  • Identify key screening and diagnostic approaches for early detection of PAH in methamphetamine users
  • Summarize a comprehensive approach to the treatment of MA-PAH that seeks to integrate pharmacotherapy for PAH and substance use disorder management
