Program Overview

The recognition of cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome as a unified condition (highlighted in a recent American Heart Association scientific statement) underscores an urgent need for education on its diagnosis and management. CKM syndrome reflects the overlapping impacts of obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease/metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASLD/MASH). With the approval of the first GLP-1 receptor agonist to reduce cardiovascular risk in people with overweight or obesity, clinicians have new tools to intervene earlier and improve outcomes.

Join us for an engaging gameshow format that allows learners to test their knowledge against the experts in six clinical categories: 1) CKM Syndrome Overview, 2) Obesity and Overweight, 3) Diabetes, 4) Cardiovascular Disease, 5) Chronic Kidney Disease, and 6) MASLD/MASH. Each question allows you to review clinical pearls, hear expert commentary, and connect the latest science with real-world patient care. By the end of the activity, you will be prepared to apply guideline-recommended strategies to prevent and manage CKM-related conditions, while evaluating efficacy and safety data on emerging therapies for people with CKM syndrome.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Recognize cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome as a disorder characterized by pathophysiological interactions between metabolic risk factors, chronic kidney disease, and the cardiovascular system
  • Discuss guideline-recommended strategies for the prevention and management of obesity, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease/metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis
  • Evaluate efficacy and safety data on new and emerging therapies for improving outcomes in people with CKM syndrome
