Target Audience
The intended audience for this activity includes cardiologists and cardiology advanced practice providers involved in the management of patients with heart failure.
Program Overview
Despite advances in guideline-directed medical therapy, patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) often experience worsening symptoms, leading to increased hospital admissions and a higher risk of adverse outcomes. Halting the Spiral in Worsening Heart Failure: A Virtual Patient Simulation offers an innovative approach to improving the care of these patients by providing a simulation of a challenging clinical presentation in an authentic practice environment. Participants will engage in an interactive case scenario designed to enhance their ability to identify a patient with worsening HFrEF, optimize a treatment plan using the latest evidence-based recommendations, and apply interprofessional strategies to improve patient outcomes. Learners will receive personalized feedback and access a downloadable pocket guide to facilitate integration of new knowledge into clinical practice, ultimately aiming to build confidence and improve care in this complex patient population.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Identify patients with worsening heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) using evidence-based tools for risk assessment.
- Manage patients with worsening HFrEF using guideline-recommended treatments.
- Use interprofessional strategies to improve outcomes in patients with worsening HFrEF.
