Program Overview
Extensive data support the presence of disparities in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) care and outcomes among underserved populations. In this activity, participants will listen directly to a patient’s firsthand account of what barriers to care look and feel like. Participants will also learn about a new, free tool that can help advanced practice providers (APPs) work collaboratively with specialists to expand access to care where it is needed the most. This activity is for IBD and gastroenterology specialists who want to expand their reach to underserved areas and APPs who want to help them get there.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Identify disparities in the care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Integrate the unique roles and responsibilities of the interprofessional care team when utilizing the IBD Clinical Decision Support Tool (CDST) to help expand access to care for underserved populations
