Dr. Larry Charleston IV is Director of the Headache & Facial Pain Division, Director of Faculty Development, Professor of Neurology in Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology, and Adjunct faculty at the Jefferson Headache Center. He is certified in Adult Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and Headache Medicine by the United Council of Neurological Subspecialties. He is founder of Charleston Health Neurology & Head Pain Consultants, Co-founder of Charleston International in partnership with the Amway Corporation and Leadership Team Development, a National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities’ Research Institute Scholar, a UM Road Scholar, and a fellow of the American Headache Society. Dr. Charleston currently serves as Treasurer of the Clinical Neurological Society of America and is Chair of the American Headache Society’s Equity Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Council. He enjoys time with his family and is avid songwriter and music producer.

Cynthia E Armand, MD
Cynthia E. Armand, MD an Associate Professor of Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Clinical Director and Fellowship Director at the Montefiore Headache Center. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and American Headache Society (AHS). She was named an Emerging Leader in Headache Medicine by the AHS in 2018. Her awards include the 2016 Frontiers in Headache Research Scholarship as well as being named an Emerging Leader in Headache Medicine by the AHS in 2018. She was inducted into the AAN’s Diversity Leadership Program’s class of 2019-2020. She was appointed as co-chair of the AHS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force in 2020 and received the 2023 AHS Above and Beyond Award for her work in that role. She is currently web editor for JAMA Neurology, and the host of their Author Interviews Podcast. Dr. Armand is an avid lover of neurology and health news with a strong interest in patient education as well as social media as a valuable means of patient empowerment and knowledge.

Hope O'Brien, MD, MBA, FAHS, FAAN
Dr. Hope O'Brien is a distinguished neurologist and expert in headache medicine, recognized for her significant contributions to the field of neurology and her innovative approach to patient care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with Honors Distinction for Research from the University of Rochester in New York. Building on this strong foundation, Dr. O'Brien pursued her medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where she also completed her residency in Adult General Neurology. Following her residency, Dr. O'Brien advanced her expertise through a fellowship in Headache Medicine at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Her dedication and expertise in this area led her to a faculty position at the same institution, where she created and directed the Young Adult Headache Program and directed the Headache Medicine Fellowship. Her work has had a profound impact on the management and treatment of headache disorders. Dr. O'Brien is board certified in both Neurology and Headache Medicine, and she holds an Executive MBA degree, which complements her clinical expertise with strong business acumen. Her research is particularly focused on late adolescents and young adults with headaches, and she has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters. In June 2021, Dr. O'Brien founded the Headache Center of Hope, a pioneering direct-to-consumer and concierge neurology practice dedicated to addressing the needs of patients of all ages suffering from recurrent headaches. This practice reflects her commitment to providing personalized and accessible care. Her leadership extends to several expert committees of prestigious organizations including the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the American Headache Society (AHS). Dr. O'Brien serves as the Vice Chair of the Meeting Management Committee of the AAN and the Accreditation Committee of the United Council of Neurological Subspecialties and on the board of the National Headache Foundation. She is also a valued member of the Medscape/AHS Advisory Board Migraine Center of Excellence. In addition to her clinical and administrative roles, Dr. O'Brien is an associate professor volunteer faculty member in Neurology at the University of Cincinnati Collge of Medicine, where she contributes to the education and training of future neurologists. Dr. O’Brien is also known for having candid conversations with the tennis champion, Serena Williams about the athlete’s journey towards migraine treatment and has shared the stage with Tony and Emmy award winner, Kristin Chenoweth, in her advocacy efforts related to migraine awareness! Dr. Hope O'Brien's career reflects a dedication to advancing the field of neurology and improving patient outcomes through innovative research, leadership, and direct patient care.
