This enduring activity provides a comprehensive overview of the chronic disease of obesity and opportunities to improve the quality of care in the primary care setting. It incorporates a variety of interactive tools, including animations and case studies, to create a dynamic learning experience.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Evaluate the physiological pathways that defend against weight loss and promote weight regain
- Select diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for patients with obesity based on guidelines and clinical evidence
- Assess the safety, efficacy and mechanisms of available and emerging antiobesity medications
- Implement shared decision making and motivational communications strategies in discussions with patients about obesity
