Program Overview
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is one of the most common infectious complications in solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. During this activity, the faculty will discuss best practices for prevention and treatment of CMV post-transplant and provide clinical pearls for managing difficult-to-treat CMV, including refractory or drug-resistant disease. You will learn first-hand from a patient with CMV about the burden and very personal aspects of this disease.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Assess the burden, risk factors, and impact of cytomegalovirus (CMV) on post-solid organ transplant (SOT) outcomes
- Utilize antiviral therapies for CMV prophylaxis and preemptive treatment in SOT recipients
- Manage refractory or resistant CMV in SOT recipients, incorporating recent advances in antiviral therapy
