Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, oncology advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants), oncology pharmacists, oncology nurses, clinical and non-clinical navigators, hospital and cancer program administrators, and other healthcare professionals. Audience will likely have a focus in GI cancers, molecular testing, genetic sequencing, gastric cancer screening, treatment, and management, and a commitment to health equity.
Program Overview
This activity will highlight strategies to reduce disparities in the diagnosis and management of biliary tract cancers, including cholangiocarcinoma. Designed for gastrointestinal oncology providers, the series offers practical tools to enhance diagnostic accuracy, guide evidence-based treatment selection (including assessment for surgical candidacy), and support coordinated, multidisciplinary care.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Review symptoms of biliary tract cancer (BTC) to ensure timely diagnosis and management in the community setting
- Discuss molecular testing and approaches for first line treatment selection to eliminate disparities in access to care for patients with BTC
- Review care coordination strategies within the multidisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes
