Target Audience
This educational activity is intended for geriatricians, endocrinologists, primary care clinicians (including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and consultant pharmacists), and managed care professionals caring for older adults with T2DM overall and in long-term care settings.
Program Overview
This activity will address the challenges faced by clinicians in managing older patients with T2DM. Participants will be equipped with an enhanced ability to apply current guideline recommendations and clinical data to management plans, personalize diabetes treatment for older adults in long-term care facilities and in the community, and gain greater knowledge of the rationale for using fixed ratio combinations of basal insulin and GLP-1 receptor agonists in older adults with T2DM.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Evaluate current guidelines recommendations and clinical data pertinent to the management of T2DM in older adults.
- Create personalized treatment plans for older patients with T2DM in long-term care facilities and in the community.
- Explain the clinical rationale for using fixed ratio combinations of GLP-1 receptor agonists and basal insulin in older adults in community and LTC settings.
