Program Overview
Excess weight and obesity contribute to a myriad of health challenges for women, including premature births, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and gynecological cancers, among others. This webcast from October 21, 2023, in Brooklyn, NY, will provide practical guidance to help women with obesity through sharing information about how to discuss weight with your patients and evidence-based management approaches. Case studies that focus on the health risks of obesity and excess weight in women will help learners immediately apply the information to their clinical practices.
- Describe the association between obesity and women’s health issues, and the impact of weight loss on health outcomes
- Display compassion and lack of bias when speaking with women about obesity as a disease
- Discuss the range of obesity treatment options with women (lifestyle interventions, pharmacotherapy, bariatric surgery)and advise about their efficacy, safety, and suitability at different points in a woman’s health journey
- Implement evidence-based obesity treatment strategies that consider factors specific to women’s health (eg, family planning and pregnancy, and comorbidities such as PCOS)
