Target Audience
The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of primary care physicians (PCPs), OB/GYNs, and NPs/PAs working in primary care or women’s care centers involved in the treatment of patients at higher risk for women’s cancers.
Program Overview
Multi‐cancer early detection panels (MCEDs) have the potential to improve cancer outcomes by enhancing timely screening and detection of multiple cancers at once, including high‐incidence cancers without current guideline‐based screening. However, logistical challenges and practical questions need to be resolved to help clinicians integrate the MCED test into clinical practice.
OB/GYNs and other primary care physicians (PCPs) for women develop long‐lasting physician‐patient relationships and are aware of their patients’ values, histories, and preferences. Therefore, OB/GYN’s and PCPs are in a position to identify those at higher risk for women’s cancers and would qualify for early cancer screening.
Join an expert panel of PCPs and OB/GYNs as they discuss practical aspects of pan‐tumor screening, such as its value alongside current screening guidelines, selecting eligible patients, interpreting results, and ensuring referrals to specialists. Panelists will discuss the new paradigm in cancer diagnosis and review studies that provide real-world outcomes relevant to MCEDs in the clinical setting.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Discuss the value proposition of MCEDs to improve long‐term outcomes for patients with cancers
- Analyze recent clinical data on MCEDs and their utility in early cancer detection
- Assess current data defining patients who are eligible for MCED testing by considering high‐risk characteristics and relevant clinical evidence
- Apply relevant approaches to facilitate the integration of MCEDs into clinical practice and transition patients from primary to oncology care
