All other health care professionals completing this course will be issued a statement of participation.
Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of clinicians (physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other clinical professionals), including those specializing in cardiology (general cardiologists, heart failure nurses, heart failure specialists, echocardiographers, nuclear cardiologists, and electrophysiologists), primary care clinicians (MDs/DOs, NPs, and PAs), and other specialists who may encounter patients with potential or confirmed ATTR-CM, such as hospitalists, geriatricians, emergency medicine, and neurologists.
Program Overview
ATTR-CM is more common than many clinicians realize and more treatable than ever before but diagnosis is still often missed or delayed. In this case-based activity you’ll learn how to identify high-risk patients, order and interpret genetic tests and guide patients through the emotional and clinical decisions that follow. Explore how race, age, and family history shape the diagnostic process and why understanding the difference between wild-type and hereditary ATTR-CM matters more than ever.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Identify patients with heart failure who should be assessed for possible amyloidosis work-up
- Describe to patients with ATTR-CM how genetic testing may impact their disease management
- Outline the steps and available resources for genetic testing for patients with ATTR-CM
