Expert Perspectives on the Prevention and Management of HIV-related Cardiovascular Disease

Sponsored by the Academy for Continued Healthcare Learning (ACHL).

This activity is supported by an educational grant from Gilead Sciences, Inc.

Specialty: Cardiology, Infectious Disease, Epidemiology, Internal Medicine, Primary Care, Family/General Practice

Activity Purpose: HIV-infected individuals have an increased risk of CVD. Research has identified characteristics of HIV infection itself that influence CVD risks, yet their precise roles and potential as therapeutic targets are unclear. Initiation of ART and management of traditional CVD risk factors are paramount to reducing risk, but additional strategies are needed.

Target Audience: This educational series is designed for cardiologists, infectious disease specialists, primary care physicians, and other clinicians interested in the management of patients with HIV-related cardiovascular disease.
