Expert Illustrations & Commentaries™: Finding the Best Path Forward in PAH Management – A Focus on NO-cGMP Signaling

CME: 1.5

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward an audience of pulmonologists, cardiologists, primary care physicians, and other health care providers who treat patients with PAH.

Program Overview

This Expert Illustrations and Commentaries™ is a video-based program in which 2 experts discuss the etiology and management of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). In this activity, the faculty focus on the pathophysiology of PAH and current and emerging therapeutic strategies for managing this condition. Their discussion is enriched with the use of video animation to illustrate the mechanism of disease and the mechanism of action of therapy. The use of animated segments helps make somewhat complicated subject matter more easily understood. This unique format is designed to help clinicians identify best practices in the diagnosis and management of PAH and to improve outcomes for affected patients.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Identify patients at risk of PAH according to the PAH classification
  • Review the mechanism of action of agents targeting the nitric oxide pathway for the treatment of PAH
  • Assess the risks/benefits of agents for the management of PAH to help guide goal-directed therapy
  • Apply clinical trial evidence toward the development of individualized management plans for patients with PAH, including combination and transition treatment strategies
