CME: 1.0

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward ophthalmologists. Other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with cataracts and astigmatism are also invited to participate.

Activity Overview

This Expert Illustrations and Commentaries™ is a video-based program in which two experts discuss astigmatism management during cataract surgery. Faculty focus on the value of astigmatism correction, types of intraocular lenses, new technologies for precise corneal measurements, and patient communication and education strategies. Their discussion is enriched with the use of video animation that helps make the somewhat complicated subject matter more easily understood. This unique format is designed to help clinicians identify and apply best practices to improve outcomes for their patients with astigmatism.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:

  • Apply the characteristics of specific IOL types to address patients’ individual needs
  • Employ counseling strategies in patients with astigmatism that support appropriate IOL selection
